Cedric and Nettie de la Harpe first visited Soweto in July 2004 and were immediately captured by the love and warmth on the streets of Soweto. At the same time they were ‘shocked’ by the lack of participation by the ‘white’ community in the Township areas, both local and international, and immediately set about attracting the visitors to walk the streets of the Townships and Rural areas, in order to assist in empowering these areas, and investing in the opening the doors to the ‘global world’ for these isolated communities. Cedric considers the need for white feet to walk the streets of the Townships and rural areas, one of South Africa’s greatest needs, thus his 24/7 barefoot status, ‘Taking white feet into the Township’.

From getting involved if empowerment work, we then became tour operators by default, focussing first on half-day tour, doing 'drive-by tour', then we realized that we were not respecting the community by driving-by, let alone giving any respect to our visitors. Toay, we walk and use the local taxi, and from this basis, the home-stay exeprience has developed and the real magic is waiting for you.

If you wish to join the many visitors who have had the greatest experience ever, then 24 Hours in Soweto is a must do while in South Arica
