AFRICA, RIGHT HERE IN JOHANNESBURG; R 355 pp, t&c. |
| Hillbrow, Yeoville, Rockey Street, Noord Street, Noord Street Market, Drill Hall, Johannesburg Art Gallery, Joubert Park, Alexandra, - most guide books would advise you againt it, we belive it is as SAFE as most places in the world, |

This vantage point is used by hundreds of locals who pray here due to the spiritual power that is present, and for the movie buffs, it is the ridge that Tsotsi used to look over Johannesburg from.
Sandton area: You are spoilt, you will be able to experience a little bit of the adventure zone during your transfer between Sandton & Soweto, my guides however have instruction to avoid giving you the full adventure without the additional contribution.

This 'Africa in Johannesburg' experience will remind you of the time you did something that your parents advised you not to do. If the typical response to our parents advice is any indication of the response to this adventure, we expect a queue of visitors.
This 'Africa in Johannesburg' is the area where the international visitor will experience the changes that have taken place in South Africa during the past 20 years, what was previously white, is now black.
This picture, one of the most exciting panoramic views of Johannesburg, is taken from a hill, surrounded by a perceived 'no-go' area. This vantage point, as with our Hillbrow 'drive-through', have been limited to those lucky visitors, who were in my company personally and that I wished to give that little extra to.
Then my wife and I visited Rocky Street and the market, surprisingly we felt comfortable, and gradually over the past six months, we have found the Noord Street Market, once only used to pass through quickly, but when I paused to have a look, it became a two hour stop.
Join us for the magic. Cedric

On both the Johannesburg and Soweto full-day visit, provided you are going to be available from 08:30 to 16:30, we can include the Noord Street Market and Drill Hall part of the 'Adventure Zone' at the rate for this experience, but at the Adventure Zone rate.
We walk the streets of these areas without any problems, but be sure that you apply the normal travel awareness that is required in any city of the world.

Hillbrow streets were a surprise to my guides when we started to develop the Adventure Zone, but they only started to show any excitement about the Adventure Zone when we visited the Drill Hall. The Drill Hall is in a state of disrepair, but the impact of its history, the base of the South African military home in Johannesburg, and more importantly the venue of the 1956 Treason Trial where 156 people were arrested and tried for treason. Just being on the site where Nelson Mandela and the other leaders were tried in a trial that opened the worlds eyes to South Africa's Apartheid, maybe for the first time, had great impact on all my guides.

Areas we cover:
Bree Street taxi rank, to Hillbrow, and a walk to the 'Vantage Point', the Rocky Street, and the Rocky Street Market.
Then, a taxi ride along Louis Botha avenue (other motorists consider their interaction with this process as an adventure) 'to and through' the Alexandra Township and then lunch at the Radium Beer Hall, "Johannesburg's oldest beer-hall.

Depending on where we start, we need to adjust the route to suit our direction.
Noord Street, Drill Hall and surrounds, could be a morning start, but preferably we take a taxi to Hillbrow, walk to the vantage point, down through Rocky Street, the Market Place, and the walk to Louis Botha, for a taxi ride down Louis Botha, through the Alexandra Township, considered by locals as an adventure experience' on its own, and then to the Radium Beer Hall for lunch, but we can also end our day with a sundowner drink here.
We would prefer to end the day with Noord Street and the Drill Hall as the Drill Hall is a venue for soccer development for the home-less youth, and many of the children who school in the inner-city, where there are no facilities and many children receive art instruction here.
Then, if you missed your Sundowner in Soweto, fear not, the Soccer Club off Noord Street is great.
