Johannesburg: Local taxi option, from R 325 pp sharing. Note: The cost excludes all local-taxi transfers, museum fees, lunch and drinks.
Early in 2009, in preparation for the 2010 SWC, a Taste of Africa, developed the concept of telling the visitors that they could spend 4 days in Johannesburg, but, in view of my passion and focus with Soweto, I have encouraged visitors to follow my guidance and visit Johannesburg on their own:
Today, we include four days in Johannesburg, with the support of my guides:
The following options could have items that are interchangeable, but the onus is on the visitor to give considerations to the standard options, based on proximity, and then discuss the alternatives with Cedric and not wait till part of the day has passed and trust that the guide will be able to accommodate a requested change.

Johannesburg, our Johannesburg:
Day trip (1), described ex Melville, but can start anywhere else in the Central Johannesburg area:
Oriental Plaza, Museum Africa, Market Theatre, Newtown, Financial District, Lunch, Beer Tour,
Approaching the City Centre the taxi uses two alternate routes, the most popular would be the direct route that crosses the Mandela Bridge, or alternately they pass the Oriental Plaza. Soon after passing the ‘Old Gas Works’, large tank structures and red brick building, the taxi routes split and you may be transferred to another taxi.
If you want an experience for a few hours, get off at the Oriental Plaza, here you could spend time shopping, and when you ready, Museum Africa is a short walk away.
Museum Africa, Market Theatre and Workshop, Newtown Cultural precinct, and the Old Financial District.
Lunch can be experienced within this old opulent setting.
And then the must do Beer Tour, for the Beer enthusiast.

Day trip (2)
Origins Centre, Constitutional Hill, Small Street Mall, Top of the Carlton, Lunch, Walk West down Commissioner Street, pass the Old Post Office, City Hall, and visit the Johannesburg Library / Old Financial Section.
The Origins Centreis through the University entrance on your left. Along Kotze Street, away from the Civic Centre the Old Fort and Constitution Hill entrance is on your left. Conducted tours every hour, on the hour.
Small Street Mall, then Top of the Carlton,a must view of Johannesburg, it was a good lunch venue, (no longer) but do not rely on it. Food outlets down in the Carlton. Between Joubert Street and Rissik Street is the Old Johannesburg Post Office, across Rissik Street, the Johannesburg City Hall.On the Corner of Harrison Street the Old Guild Hall pub and restaurant is worth a peep, lunch and a beer.Continue down Commissioner Street, for a block and the cross and enter the Johannesburg Library. Descend the stairs to the left and enter the Newspaper Archive section. Quietly ask for some old-Newspapers, possibly covering the 1976 period and absorb how the news was covered during the struggle period. Library presently under rehab. Finish with the Old Financial District.
