During 2008 we stopped offering a half-day tour due to the restrictions that the time limit had on getting to the exciting corners of Soweto.
At this time we also stopped the standard drive-by tour, understanding that we were not respecting the local community, and we were in-fact using the international tourist in this profit making opportunity at the expense of both the community and the visitor.

The R250 excludes you and your guides local taxi fare, meals and museum fees. There is a single supplement of R 50 if alone.
Due to confusion we considered increasing our rates, to cover the guides local taxi fare and meals, but having given due consideration to why we adpoted this policy initially, we have decided to maintain this structure.
The motivation is that it permits the visitor to dictate the amount of travel in the Township. If you as a visitor only walked the streets of Orlando East and West, should you pay?
If we gave the guides an additional R 40 on her daily allowance, would she not be tempted to keep the areas visited to a limit to suit her?
For meals, we visit a traditional eating house where R 40 could feed three, the guides option could be to take you to a facility where you miss the Nancefield experience, and pay R 100 per person, and the guide is fed free.
